House Passes Bill to Help Limit Iran’s Access to Drone Parts

The House on Monday advanced legislation directing the federal government to develop strategies to block the illegal export of technologies to Iran that could be used to design, produce, or operate uncrewed aircraft.

Lawmakers passed H.R. 2505 by voice vote. The measure would require the Commerce and State departments to each work on plans aimed at preventing Iran from accessing both US- and foreign-made components that could be used by the Iranian military’s drone program. Covered components would include microprocessors, GPS modules, and other microelectronics.
