VW Owes Money for Cars Resold Before Scandal, Ex-Owners Argue

Former owners of Volkswagen AG diesel vehicles who sold them before the company’s emissions-concealing software became public say in their final brief to the Ninth Circuit that they overpaid for their vehicles, can quantify the loss, and didn’t fully recoup the money at resale.

The appeal, by more than two dozen consumers who couldn’t participate in Volkswagen’s $10-billion-plus class settlements, seeks to reinstate their fraud-based case for money damages.
