Covid-19 Home Tests Deemed Eligible Medical Expenses by IRS

The Internal Revenue Service reminded taxpayers that Covid-19 home tests can be paid for from tax-advantaged consumer health-care accounts.

The tests are eligible medical expenses that can be paid or reimbursed under health flexible spending arrangements, health savings accounts, health reimbursement arrangements, or Archer medical savings accounts, the IRS said Friday in a news release Friday.

The tests are covered because the cost to diagnose Covid-19 is an eligible medical expense for tax purposes.
