African Countries Push for Changes to OECD-Led Digital Tax Plan

The OECD’s digital tax plan should set thresholds at a level to ensure African countries benefit from a reallocation of profits, a representative of the African Union said Wednesday.

The OECD is trying to broker an agreement this year between 138 jurisdictions on overhauling the global tax system to address concerns about how multinationals—especially tech giants—are taxed. The plan would include reallocating multinationals’ profits and establishing a global minimum tax.
