African countries considering new taxes on tech giants will get help from a continent-wide forum of tax administrators.
The African Tax Administration Forum will introduce guidance for legislation on taxing digital services, as African countries increasingly look at such measures, Logan Wort, the group’s executive secretary said Wednesday at an online conference.
The guidance could help countries as they consider stepping into a heated global political debate on taxing tech companies. Such measures can boost tax revenues, but at the threat of U.S. trade sanctions.
