Amazon.com shareholders will get to vote on a proposal that calls on the company to disclose more about the taxes it pays, the Securities and Exchange Commission said Wednesday.
The shareholder proposal, which comes up for a vote at Amazon’s May 25 annual meeting, asks Amazon to issue a tax transparency report that includes a country-by-country breakdown of its taxes. Amazon had tried to block a shareholder vote on the proposal, but the SEC said in a letter Wednesday that the vote could go ahead.
