Developing Countries Need Help on Tax Issues: Jamaica Official

The OECD-led effort to address profit shifting can do more to meet developing countries’ needs, an official from Jamaica’s finance ministry said.

Developing countries could use more support on tax policy issues, including withholding taxes imposed by source countries, dealing with the complexity of transfer pricing methods, and considering whether there may be an alternative to transfer pricing to deal with cross-border tax issues, said Marlene Nembhard Parker, chief tax counsel of legislation, treaties, and international tax matters at Jamaica’s Ministry of Finance.
