EU Leaders Back Corporate Tax Reform for 2019

European Union leaders agreed on a plan to advance corporate tax reforms next year that they believe are vital in response to U.S. tax law changes adopted a year ago.

Based on a compromise text drawn up by outgoing EU presidency holder Austria, the leaders, meeting in Brussels Dec. 13-14, endorsed a plan to pursue a common corporate tax base designed to help companies doing cross-border business in the 28 EU member states as well as to attract new ones to invest in the bloc.
