EU Parliament Decries Lack of Access to Tax Exchange Information

The European Union’s executive arm is withholding critical data that EU legislators need to analyze the bloc’s efforts on tax information exchange, according to a long-awaited parliamentary report Friday.

Despite agreement that the European Parliament’s input is vital to policymaking, it “has not been granted access to the documents and data necessary to properly assess the implementation of Union law on administrative cooperation in the field of taxation,” the draft report from the body’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs said on the bloc’s Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC) for tax.
