EU to Push for Aviation, Shipping Fuel Taxes

The European Union is seeking an end to tax exemptions for aviation and shipping fuels in a revision to energy taxation rules.

The reform of the EU Energy Taxation Directive, to be proposed in June, will target tax breaks for fossil fuels and will instead provide incentives for clean energy, officials said Tuesday at a European Commission green taxation seminar.
