Ex-Bankers Face Cum-Ex Verdict Next Week in Wake of Coronavirus

The verdict in Germany’s Cum-Ex tax trial may be issued as soon as next week as judges try to cope with the impact of the coronavirus on the court system.

The Bonn tribunal which is hearing the charges against two former investment bankers will try to wrap up the case this week, with a verdict to follow shortly, a court spokeswoman said Monday. As part of the plan the judges dropped Bank of New York Mellon and Societe Generale SA from the trial to speed up the process.
