The German cabinet wants to use its 2022 budget to revamp energy subsidies and tax breaks in a bid to help curb the effects of climate change.
The parliament and federal council will draw on a subsidy policy report, published Wednesday, when preparing the final version of the budget. The cabinet is proposing a comprehensive reform of fees, surcharges, levies, and taxes in the energy system.
