Germany Backs Continuing Digital Tax Talks, Official Says (2)

Germany will use its upcoming EU presidency to rally European support for a global digital tax solution, an official said one day after U.S. commitment to the project fell into doubt.

“Germany will strive to get everybody on board under their presidency for a global agreement, and explore all options to prevent the OECD negotiations from failing,” said Sandy Radmanesh, tax attache at the German Embassy in Washington. She was speaking Thursday on an International Fiscal Association webinar.

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government assumes the bloc’s rotating presidency starting July 1.
