Latvia Parliament Considers Bill to Introduce Digital Services Tax

The Latvian Parliament (Saeima) Sept. 23 accepted for consideration Bill No. 1166, to introduce the digital services tax. The draft bill includes measures to: 1) establish rules for trading goods using an electronic interface; 2) require companies with annual revenue exceeding 750 million euros (US$878 million) to register with the tax service; 3) set a 3 percent tax on the gross revenue from digital services of eligible companies; and 4) establish reporting and filing procedures. The law would generally enter into force Jan. 1, 2022. [Latvia, Parliament, 09/23/21]
