Mauritius Prime Minister Presents 2020-21 Budget

The Mauritian Prime Minister’s Office June 5 presented the 2020-21 budget to the parliament. The budget includes measures that would: 1) establish income tax exemption thresholds, effective July 1; 2) apply VAT on digital services provided by nonresidents in Mauritius; 3) provide an eight-year tax holiday for companies manufacturing nutraceutical products, effective June 4, 2020, and pharmaceutical related products, effective June 8, 2017; 4) allow accelerated depreciation deductions in the year expenditures are incurred; 5) allow a double tax deduction on plant and machinery investments from March 1 to June 30; 6) make the solidarity tax on telephone service providers...
