Norway MOF Seeks Comments on Proposed Amendments to Provisions on Ground Rent Tax on Hydropower

The Norwegian Ministry of Finance Oct. 15 opened a consultation on a proposal to amend provisions on the ground rent tax on hydropower. The proposal includes measures to: 1) reduce, to 1,500 kilovolt-ampere (kVA) from 10,000 kVA, the lower limit for the tax; 2) value at the contract price the power supplied under a purchase contract with an independent purchaser, if entered into before Oct. 15; 3) include the gain or loss on a settlement in the tax base, if the settlement is before the purchase contract; and 4) specify, for power plants with rated output of 1,500 kVA to ...
