Oregon Governor Signs Law Authorizing Workforce Housing Property Tax Exemptions

The Oregon Governor July 19 signed a law establishing a property tax exemption program for workforce housing. The law includes measures: 1) allowing the governing body of a county with a population of less than 15,000 to adopt an ordinance or resolution granting a property tax exemption for eligible housing located within the county’s boundaries; 2) defining “eligible housing” as a newly constructed single-family dwelling, excluding the land on which the dwelling is situated; 3) providing that no more than five dwellings in a county may be newly granted an exemption as eligible housing for any property tax year; 4) ...
