Oxfam Slams Likely U.S. Absence From EU Tax Haven Blacklist

The U.S. and Switzerland ought to be on the EU’s forthcoming tax haven blacklist but probably won’t be listed because of “power politics,” Oxfam International said.

In a March 7 report, the nonprofit anti-poverty organization said the U.S. violates European Union listing criteria because it hasn’t adopted the OECD’s Common Reporting Standard requiring countries to exchange non-resident banking information. And Switzerland should be blacklisted because its tax regime for multinationals “continues to be one of the most harmful in the world.”
