Take French Tax Dispute to WTO, Business Group Urges

The U.S. should settle its differences with France over a new digital tax at the World Trade Organization, instead of imposing tariffs, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said.

Tariffs could spark retaliatory measures, the group said in an Aug. 14 comment letter. The Chamber urged the U.S. to take up dispute settlement proceedings at the WTO because the tax violates France’s international trade obligations.
