Ten Bills Test Brazil’s Congress Appetite for Economic Reforms

At least ten proposals to boost public finances and spur growth will test Brazilian lawmakers’ appetite for additional reforms this year before their attention turn to upcoming municipal elections.

The bills, including measures to increase control over the federal budget, simplify taxes and reduce spending on public servants, are already in Congress or about to be submitted to lawmakers by the administration of President Jair Bolsonaro.
