March 24, 2020, 5:34 PM

Thailand has announced a new stimulus package that includes tax filing extensions to help companies endure the economic difficulties amid the new coronavirus outbreak.

The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a package of measures related to Covid-19, which includes extending the corporate tax filing deadline to either Aug. 30 or Sept. 29, depending on an original deadline of April 1 or July 1.

  • The personal income tax filing deadline was pushed to Aug. 31, from June 30.
  • The measures also include a cash handout of 5,000 baht ($152) per month for the next three months for 3 million people.
  • Healthcare personnel will get personal tax exemptions as risk compensation for helping to control, treat, and prevent the virus, the government said.
