The Alabama Governor June 9 signed a law authorizing the Macon County to levy an occupational privilege license fee for excise tax purposes. The law includes a measure providing that if an area isn’t subject to the tax on the effective date of the act, the area is annexed into a municipality, and becomes subject to the tax, any payroll or privilege fee levied shall continue to apply in the annexed area notwithstanding any other provision of law. The law took effect June 9. [/AL\FINAL\2019R1SB418///, enacted 06/09/19]
