Alaska Alcoholic Beverage Control Board Proposes Regulation to Repeal, Readopt Changes Concerning Licensee’s Death

The Alaska Alcoholic Beverage Control Board Sept. 20 proposed a regulation to repeal and readopt changes concerning a licensee’s death for excise tax purposes. The proposal includes measures to clarify that upon the death of the licensee: 1) the business must cease operation until the appointment of a personal representative by the superior court; 2) who owns 50 percent or more of an entity holding a license, the surviving licensees may continue to operate the license upon transfer application or request for extension; 3) who owns less than 50 percent of a limited liability organization, corporation, or partnership, the surviving...
