Blunt Says $600B to $700B Infrastructure Plan May Be Acceptable

A $600 billion to $700 billion infrastructure proposal could be acceptable to Republicans, Senator Roy Blunt says at a Washington Post event.

  • Blunt says he does not think any Republicans in the Senate would support President Biden’s $2.25 trillion plan, citing concerns about the definition of infrastructure and a tax increase
  • Asked how the smaller measure would be funded, Blunt says he has been talking to Senate Democrats and the administration about the Highway Trust Fund in addition to airport, port and railroad fees
    • The Missouri Republican also says public-private partnerships could provide further funding
