California Bill Offers Tax Filing Option for Foreign Employees (1)

California may become the first state to let employers file group income taxes for their foreign workers who have been unable to obtain federal taxpayer identification numbers.

A bill (A.B. 2660) introduced by Assemblywoman Autumn Burke (D) would eliminate the requirement that foreign employees file their own state income tax returns given that they don’t qualify for social security numbers and may not be able to get federal individual taxpayer identification numbers.
