California Bill Would Boost Funding for Film and TV Tax Credit

California would increase funding and expand eligibility for its film and television tax credit for recurring or relocating TV series and sound stage construction under an agreement between lawmakers and Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The bill (A.B. 144, S.B. 144) introduced Sunday evening is part of the overall budget package for the fiscal year that began July 1 and includes items both the Democratic governor and lawmakers sought. It could reach Newsom’s desk for signature as early as Thursday.
