The California Controller April 1 published an updated unclaimed property holder handbook for individual income and corporate income tax purposes. The handbook compiles statutes relative to the state’s unclaimed property laws as enacted by the legislature. A new update corrects the starting transaction date in the three-year dormancy period section. The handbook also includes information on: 1) the unclaimed property reporting process; 2) holder due diligence; 3) the holder remit report and remittance; 4) the remittance options; and 5) the report formats.
