California Governor Signs Law Exempting Beer Manufacturers From Requirement to Register as Food Processing Facility

The California Governor Sept. 9 signed a law exempting beer manufacturers from the requirement to register with the Department of Public Health as a food processing facility for excise tax purposes. The law includes measures: 1) adding persons who hold a valid beer manufacturer’s license from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to the list of persons exempted from the requirement to be registered as a food processing facility under the Sherman Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law; and 2) clarifying, within the law, that an entity that provides food services other than the manufacturing, packing, or holding of processed food...
