Colorado DOR Announces Grace Period Extension for New Sales Tax Rules

The Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR) Dec. 6 extended the grace period to May 31, 2019 from March 31, 2019 for Colorado businesses and out-of-state retailers to comply with new emergency sales tax rules. The new rules implement the U.S. Supreme Court’s South Dakota v. Wayfair decision on destination sourcing. Despite the automatic reprieve, the DOR requested businesses to collect and remit sales tax on internet sales based on where the good or service is delivered as quickly as possible.
