D.C. Court Finds Man Evaded Taxes in Residency Dispute

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals on Thursday affirmed a trial court’s ruling that a resident attempted to evade taxes during 2011 and 2012 tax years.

The appeals court agreed that Mark Witaschek failed to prove he misunderstood the law in good faith or believed he wasn’t violating the law when he claimed that he was a part-time resident of the District of Columbia.
