District of Columbia Mayor Signs Temporary Coronavirus Relief Law Excluding Certain Grants From Income

The District of Columbia Mayor June 17 signed a temporary coronavirus relief law on the computation of gross income for corporate income, individual income, and trust income tax purposes. The law includes a measure excluding public health emergency response grants issued under the District of Columbia Public Emergency Act of 1980, from a taxpayer’s gross income for tax years beginning after Dec. 31, 2020. The law takes effect following a 30-day period of congressional review and publication in the District of Columbia Register and expires 225 days after taking effect.
