Georgia Enacts Law on Property Tax Exemption for Covington Residents

The Georgia Governor enacted a law providing a full property tax exemption for City of Covington residents. The exemption applies only to municipal property taxes and expressly does not affect state, county, or school district ad valorem taxes. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027, if approved by voters in a referendum. [H.B. 1503, enacted 05/11/26]
