In a bid to maximize participation in a three-month tax amnesty for out-of-state sellers, Illinois published guidance Tuesday meant to help businesses navigate its first-in-the-nation program.
The state Department of Revenue released an information bulletin and launched a website for the Illinois Remote Retailer Amnesty Program, which runs from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31. The program encourages non-compliant out-of-state sellers to pay past due tax liabilities dating back to 2021 without penalties or interest at a uniform rate.
