IRS Extends Policy Allowing Digital Signatures on Certain Forms

The IRS will continue accepting electronic and digital signatures on several tax forms, including those used to report estate and gift taxes, through June.

The agency in a memorandum Monday said extending that policy will help alleviate concerns taxpayer representatives have raised about securing handwritten signatures from clients during the coronavirus pandemic and will promote timely filing. The memo is effective for forms signed and postmarked from Jan. 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021.
