California Recall Not Covered by Tax Return Law, Judge Rules (1)

California’s new law requiring gubernatorial candidates to disclose their tax returns doesn’t apply to candidates on the Sept. 14 recall ballot, a state trial court judge said in a tentative ruling Wednesday.

The 2019 law applies specifically to direct primary election ballots, which the recall isn’t, Sacramento Superior Court Judge Laurie M. Earl said.
