Michigan Governor Signs Law Modifying Alternative Energy Personal Property Tax Exemption

The Michigan Governor Nov. 14 signed a law amending the General Property Tax Act alternative energy personal property tax exemption. The law includes measures: 1) defining alternative energy system; 2) noting that he alternative energy property exemption applies to taxes levied on an alternative energy system after the act’s effective date, provided the system meets certain conditions; and 3) stating that the law eliminates the certification and resolution process.
