Michigan Projects $19 Million Boost from New Sports Betting

Michigan casinos can prepare to open sports books following the sign-off on a suite of gambling bills that make the Wolverine State the 21st state to allow sports betting, effective immediately.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signed 10 bills Dec. 20 overhauling the state’s gambling laws and ushering in new regulatory regimes for sports betting, fantasy sports, and Internet gambling. In total the package could bring in up to $19 million in new revenue, Whitmer said in a statement. The bills are: House Bills 4173, 4308, 4309, 4310, 4311, 4312, 4323, 4916, 4917 ...
