Mining Company In Line for $200 Million Tax Break from Nebraska

Nebraska could grant up to $200 million in tax benefits to a mineral mining company under a deal seen as among the richest in the 13-year history of the state’s economic development program.

The incentive package comes as the Cornhusker state discusses options for restructuring its “Nebraska Advantage” program, which has been criticized for extending tax benefits to hundreds of corporations without imposing hard accountability and transparency requirements.

NioCorp Developments Ltd. released a statement saying it has signed contracts with Nebraska waiving $200 million in state and local tax liabilities over 10 years.
