Minnesota Landowners Wrongly Taxed by Nearby Drainage Area

A county drainage authority in Minnesota erred in assessing nine landowners in a neighboring drainage area for property taxes, the Minnesota Tax Court found.

The Sibley-McCloud Counties Joint Ditch 18 Authority must remove any charges for 2019 property taxes to the landowners, whose property is in Sibley-McLeod County Joint Ditch 17, the tax court ordered. The appropriate authority must give refunds to the landowners for any taxes they were required to pay, the tax court said.
