Montana Legislature Approves Cutting Top Income Tax Bracket

The Montana Legislature approved a bill Tuesday that would cut the top rate for the state’s individual income tax to 6.5%, from 6.9%, among other tax measures.

The Senate passed the bill (S.B. 399) as amended by the House on a vote of 31 to 19. Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) is expected to sign it since he has called on state lawmakers to pass tax cuts this year.
