N.J. Fight Against New York’s Telecommuting Taxes Advances

New Jersey is forging ahead in its effort to block New York from taxing Garden State residents who no longer cross the border for work.

The Budget and Appropriations Committee of the state Senate voted unanimously on Thursday to advance a bill (S-3064) that directs the state treasurer to examine legal efforts to thwart New York from taxing New Jersey residents working from home. It will analyze the revenue the state could bring in if it were to collect those taxes itself.
