N.Y. Senate Picks Amazon Foe for Board That Could Doom HQ2 Deal

The New York State Senate has chosen a leading opponent of Amazon.com Inc.’s deal to establish a new corporate campus in New York City as one of three members of a board with veto power over the transaction.

Senator Michael Gianaris, a Democrat who represents Long Island City, Queens, where Amazon intends to build a $2.5 billion office, has called the deal’s $3 billion in government incentives a giveaway to corporate interests.
