New York state local sales tax collections experienced a 14.1% increase in February 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, according to the New York State Comptroller.
The local collections reached $1.6 billion and New York City’s collections totaled $718 million, an increase of 11.6% compared to February of 2022, the office announced Friday.
“While local sales tax collections continue to experience major growth in 2023, future collections may not grow at such a fast pace,” State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli said.
