New York Tax and Finance Department Issues Memorandum on Tax Registration for Businesses Without Nexus

The New York Department of Taxation and Finance Nov. 5 issued a technical memorandum on sales tax registration requirements for businesses with no physical presence in the state. A business with no physical presence in the state is required to register as a sales tax vendor if in the preceding four sales tax quarters it made more than $500,000 in sales, and conducted more than 100 sales of tangible personal property delivered in the state.
