Gov. Mike DeWine (R) signed a bill giving out a series of tax breaks, including a business income tax deduction for lawyers and lobbyists, a sales tax exemption for women’s hygiene products, and an income tax deduction for teachers’ school supplies.
Lawyers and lobbyists were eliminated from the state’s pass-through entity business income tax deduction as part of a budget bill compromise DeWine signed in July. In the bill (SB 26) signed Nov. 6, those professions were brought back into the fold. That’s expected to reduce revenues by $25 million.
