Workers in Oregon will have access in 2023 to 12 weeks of paid leave for a new child, medical illness, or caregiving needs, under a law signed Aug. 9 by Gov. Kate Brown (D).
Oregon joins California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington state, and the District of Columbia in adopting paid family leave programs. Only 16 percent of workers in the U.S. have access to paid family leave, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
