The Oregon State Board of Tax Practitioners Sept. 20 amended regulations updating the rules for tax preparers’ continuing education requirements for corporate income, individual income, trust income, property, excise, and estate tax purposes. The rules include measures: 1) providing that promotional and other items of minimal value are exempt from the requirement that advertising material include a preparer’s license number; 2) clarifying that all private career schools must be licensed by the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission; 3) clarifying that training in proprietary software is not to be included in the 80 hour requirement for classroom hours; 4) clarifying that ...
