Kansas is one step closer to legalizing sports betting after a buzzer-beating effort pushed a Senate bill over to the House before a Thursday deadline.
The state Senate voted 23-15 on Wednesday to approve S.B. 283, before Kansas’ Thursday chamber “crossover” deadline—the last day for a bill to pass out of its original chamber in order to be considered in the next one. The bill will be considered in the House next, where a rival bill is already under review.
