Texas Collects a Record $3.4 Billion in Sales Taxes in April

Texas state sales-tax collections totaled $3.4 billion in April, a record high monthly total and 31.4% more than April 2020, according to a Monday statement from Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar.

  • Year-over-year increase for most tax revenue this month and in the coming month are expected to be among the highest on record, the statement said
    • This is due to base effects, as year-ago revenue collections were suppressed by the pandemic
