Airlines Beat Fraud, Racketeering Claims Over Mexico Tourist Tax

Eight top airlines don’t have to face fraud, antitrust, and racketeering claims over their alleged scheme to pocket the “tourist tax” they collected from Mexico-bound passengers who were exempt from it, a Maryland federal judge ruled.

The lawsuit targeted Delta Air Lines Inc., United Airlines Inc., American Airlines Inc., Southwest Airlines Co., JetBlue Airways Corp., Aerovias de Mexico SA de CV, ABC Aerolineas SA de CV, and Aeroenlaces Nacionales SA de CV, better known as Viva Aerobus.
